SISU ADVENTURE & RETREAT | COLORADO

DATes TBC

WHERE

For this trip we will be staying 2 nights at the Camels Garden Hotel in Telluride, right at the base of the Gondola. The other 2 nights will be spent at the Thelma Hut in the mountains. This is a mountain hut, so remember that some things will be different. There is running water, but not enough to allow for showers. You may use the hot water buckets in the sauna to rinse off or jump in the nearby lakes! You will also need to bring your own sleeping bag liners or sheets, and a pillow case. Down comforters and pillows will be provided. The sleeping arrangements in Telluride will be a shared room with 2 double beds. At the hut, there is the option of single beds (4 beds in a room), loft with a queen bed, or single room with a king bed.

WHAT

This adventure is for all women, all levels, who loves the mountains and yoga and are 18+. This trip is a great way to experience hiking in the amazing San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado, to enjoy yoga multiple times per day and to relax at the beautiful Thelma Mountain Hut.

EMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER. We are all role models for the young people in our worlds, but sometimes in our busy lives we forget who we are, what makes us strong and how to empower those around us. Sisu Adventures are created to empower women, to help encourage and lift each other up, work together to develop, create, explore with passion and belief. In turn, creating amazing role models in ourselves for all the young around us!

This Adventure is an all inclusive trip, that reminds us who we are, challenges us to step outside our comfort zone and take us on a holistic experience. We are joined by Anna Frost who will help guide us to dig deep into our heart and reconnect to our passions. All activites are challenge by choice and will include journaling, yoga, cooking lessons, running, art, hiking and SUP boarding.

ADVENTURE ITINERARY

***Please note that daily runs/hikes are subject to change due to weather and trail conditions. Summer in the San Juans typically produces afternoon thunderstorms that we can plan around by starting and finishing our daily runs early. In the event of bad weather, especially above tree-line, MOST planned runs/hikes have a contingency option that will give us a safer run for the day. All runs/hikes are optional and you can choose not to participate at anytime.

Day 1

Arrive in Telluride, Colorado. There are many options for flying to SW Colorado with the easiest and most popular option being Montrose (MTJ). Some of you may be driving as well, which is fine, but remember parking in these small mountain towns can be annoying and expensive, and you can not drive to the mountain hut. You can arrive anytime throughout the day, but check in at the hotel is not until 2pm. There is plenty to do in Telluride if you want to arrive early. Soak those tired travel legs in the cold creek behind the hotel, or take a ride on the Gondola, located just next to the hotel, for free!

*Remember, that most people on this trip will be arriving from lower elevations and will find that it might take a few days to get used to thin air of the San Juans.

**Those that are arriving early may have a chance to do the Telluride Via Ferrata!!! Ask us for more details.

  • Lodging: Camels Garden in Telluride

  • Meals included: Dinner

  • Yoga: Light Yoga/Stretching at the hotel

  • Hike/Run: On your own around Telluride if you arrive early. We can give you some great recommendations.

Day 2

Run in Telluride. Today we will have breakfast at the hotel, and then head out for a run on the amazing Sneffels Highline Trail. We will start the run from the hotel, and run a 15 mile loop, but you can turn back whenever you want. This is one of the most scenic trails in the area and one of our favorites. With breath taking views and wildflower filled meadows, this is the trail run that defines the San Juans. We will finish back at our hotel in town. After the run, you can enjoy a hot tub at the hotel, or ice your legs in the river just outside your hotel room.

We will have an evening private yoga session from 5:00-6:00pm, at the amazing Peaks Resort and Spa, so be sure to save some energy for this. After the yoga and a shower, we will have dinner at the Alteeza Restaurant, which has some of the best views in town.

Day 3

Make our way to the Thelma Hut. Today we will have breakfast at the hotel, and then make our way to Thelma Hut. You will have 2 options to get to the hut. The first is to run from Telluride up Bridal Veil Creek and make your way up and over to the hut. Some route finding will be necessary on this day, so this run will be guided (**This option is only for runners that we see fit enough to make the distance). The other option is to take the shuttle ride over through Ouray and up Porphyry basin road to the hut. Those taking the jeep ride will be able to enjoy a hike or run upon arrival at the hut.
